Hi there. My chicks are in their first week. Do you think it would be okay to put them in the sun in the brooder? It will be around 80 in the sun..

Thank you!!I wouldn't put them in the direct sun, provide a bit of shade as well. Chicks have a hard time regulating body temperature.
Watch behavior - they will tell you if they are too hot/cold.
At a week, they cannot regulate their temperatures so they would need some shade. I would recommend they just stay inside for a few more weeks to be safe.Hi there. My chicks are in their first week. Thank you! Decided it was smart as well to keep them safe insideAt a week, they cannot regulate their temperatures so they would need some shade. I would recommend they just stay inside for a few more weeks to be safe.
That's a good guide to go by, but they don't need that amount of heat all the time.Yes, at one week, they need to be in 90-95 degree heat at all time.
Yea and our newest never really liked the heat much. It was at like 80 in the box and they would be away from the light still. That's a good guide to go by, but they don't need that amount of heat all the time.
They do need 1 warm spot that is around 90-95F.
At 80F in the sun, chicks likely would be pretty warm and need shade, imho.
