I have two of my ducks eggs in the incubator due to hatch a week apart. SOON! She had been showing signs of wanting to set and she did off and on. Well now she is setting... Made herself a huge nest in the duck house with 7 eggs. I candled them yesterday as there were like 15 eggs in the nest and chucked the bad ones. I marked the ones I candled... I put 6 back that seemed to have something in them and she laid one more today. So my question is it can I now put the two eggs close to hatching in her nest so they will hatch under her or should I keep them in the incubator till they hatch and put them out with her later? She's imprinted on me but has had her male companion since the beginning of the year whom she's now closely bonded to. So is now not so dependent on me. :)

Usually she's out and about all day but today she's been on her nest almost all day! :)

Give her a little time and if she sits three straight days this is a great indicator she is hooked then try to slide your egg's under her in the evening and let her go for it but you will still need to keep an eye to make sure she is excepting the egg's ....

Keep us updated as this could be interesting ......

Day two of continual sitting. She only comes out when I go out to give fresh food and water and then she's running around quacking at me. Lol soooo I'm assuming she doesn't want me by her nest. She never attacks or bites and I can get to the nest but she seems anxious when doing so, so I try and stay away best I can! Lol she's so funny!

Sounds like you are going to have a great mommy there ,,,,,,,and yes that is just what they do alright and it is so very funny to watch ......

She's got 6 eggs under her now and she's been setting continuously. :)

Went in tonight and checked the eggs and one is pipped thru!!!! She has four eggs in her nest. I'm almost certain one is bad but I left it just in case since I am still new to hatching. But I'm certain 3 of the 4 will hatch. If there's no problems. :S but I put a gate between her and her mate so if they decide to hatch tonight before I can get the new duck house set up at least he won't have access to the babies but can still see her. I did put the duckling I hatched of hers in the duck house with them and they don't seem to mind it. Dexter the male doesn't like it but Charlie the female is a bit scared of it but protects it lol. Its funny. She's hilarious. She doesn't mind me touching the duckling but anyone else she bites lmao!! Will give updates on the hatching!!! :)

I wish BYC could allow some kind of permanent live feed for people to tap into and stream their stuff! (With a delay of course so people like me can't flub it up for everyone else ;0...)
Because this is the the kind of reality 'TV' I could watch all DAY!
Good look with all your babies.
