Our turkeys are here! We already love them - they're a lot different than chicks.

Anyway, we have 15 midget white poults and just picked up 6 BB Bronze poults. I see the BB turkeys are bigger and more sluggish than the MW's. Can I raise them together or that going to be a problem? All I was thinking was that turkeys are turkeys....but from chickens I know there is a distinct difference between meat chickens and regular breeds.

Thanks for any insight!

I think you're good to raise them together. My experience has been that turkeys are nearly as bad at picking on each other over size differences as chickens are. Of course, that's just my experience. I had one midget white by accident once, and it got along fine with all the other heritage turkeys. And i have had BBWs in with heritage turkeys without problems. But I have never had BB and midgets together.

I raise MWs and BBWs together all the time. Even mix ages too when the poults are ready to go out. They will do fine together. My midgets have wintered over with my BBW pets with no issues. Eva our last BBW is currently broody, but sharing space with a broody midget. They look like mother and daughter next to each other. It's cute. I think having her in with the midgets is what has kept her healthy and alive.

Yay! I'm so glad to hear this!

Thanks so much!

I raised Midgets with BBW, and my Midgets were little *&^%$#@ to my BBW... lol... I was hoping the bigger BBW would put one of the midgets in her place, but they turned the cheak. I think the BBW were VERY VERY friendly, and great to raise....
