I'm overrun with chickens, and I'd like to sell one of my BOs along with her three 1-week-old chicks. Is that okay to do? Will moving the family stress the mama out so much that she won't take care of her babies at the new place? I already have an offer for them, and I badly need to downsize, but I don't want to upset the little family too much. Do you think it's okay?

I see mamma hens with chicks on CL all of the time.

If I didn't love my broodies so much, I'd do the same.

I have 2 broodies right now-- and a third that tried but I stopped her. If only I didn't live in an HOA I would be hatching and keeping chicks like mad. Unfortunately I have 5 hens and 12 chicks... and I can only keep 8 chickens total if I want to keep flying under the HOA radar.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm glad to know they'll be okay!

Shouldn't be a problem, but if she's a bit "flighty" you could have them pick her and the chicks up after dark just to keep things extra mellow for her.
