Where did this chicken come from

I hate to say this, but the RSPCA does not give a flying f*** about chickens. There is actual body cam footage online of RSPCA officers standing amongst dead, dying and distressed battery hens, not giving a shit. They'd already booked the slaughter truck before even arriving at the scene to see if any of the hens could be rescued. They laughed at the people trying to save the hens when they were being tackled by police. I donated on and off to the RSPCA for 25 years, now they are dead to me. If the animal in need isn't cute and marketable, they're not interested. All creatures great and small my arse.

Apologies for the coarse language; I felt very betrayed by the RSPCA when I found this out.

I was so sad and angry when I found out; I adopted a cat from them in the 90s. I was donating to the RSPCA and a hen rescue charity at the time of the footage so I stopped my donations to the RSPCA and gave it to the other charity instead. Pretty sure the RSPCA have the big DO NOT CALL button lit up next to my number.

Yes, they are called NSW Hen Rescue and they are based in Grafton (I think). They’re at capacity with rescues, but you can make tax deductible donations to them. I have done so for years.

So sorry it took me so long to make a second post

So, heres the story

A few weeks ago now, a young chicken showed up in our backyard. Because we have a big dog out the back, we chased it away. We slept a night, forgetting about the chicken and the next morning I set up one of our brokendown cars for the chicken to stay in over night temporary. You see, out the back we have a dog and out the front, the house next door has a colony of feral cats living under it!!!!
Danger from all sides

Its been a while now and we have asked on facebook for anyone who can take her in (there was one fellow but he changes his mind bc he reckoned his older chickens would bully her.)
She isnt living in ideal circumstances because we dont have money for a chicken and we dont plan on keep her forever bc of our dog and the cats.

Right now shr lives in a blue Mazda 2 that has no engine or gear box. There are sheets over the seats for poop catching (and cleaning easily) and she has a roost laid from seat to seat. We put water in there with her and we let her out to run and dig up grums and snails three Times a day for an hour or two each time. We can't let her free roam without supervision because the cats have gone after her a few times ]
She eats bugs, grass and we give her oats, sometimes some banana or a bit of apple.

She sunbathes on the porch and does little dust baths

But we must get rid of her, this isn't a good situation for her and she could be happier.


I am new here and im not sure if this is a thing people do, but if they is anyone who is available to take her, please message me or something? Or let me now if you can because i want her to have a better life, stay alive! And my dad wants her out of his car because he wants to sell it

Note, the chicken and I live in Sydney NSW Australia, so if you are on any other continent or probably another Aussie State (unless you really want to)

UPDATE!!!!!: good news
Chicken has found a new home where she has a friend and a loving family to care for her needs
A few weeks ago (i am atrocious at keeping up with my posts) LozzyR's husband came by while he was in the area to pick up the chicken and LozzyR sent me photos to show she got home safely c:
She has a new name: Princess
(So cute)
And im very happy she is happy. I will miss her though, as with all the other animals ive cared for briefly
