I've heard that you can sex welsummer chicks by their 'eyeliner' but will it work with a cross bteed? This is what my chick looks like 'she' is crossed with a light sussex/silkie and welsummer

Hum,
Not sure how that would work because in the purebred Wellies, one sex has heavier eye liner than another. If the breed is diluted, how you tell because you wouldn't know if the lighter eye liner was because of the sex or the color genes. Can you feather sex them? One to 4 days old? That's a thought.

Also, as they get older, females will have a second layer of fethers extending out from their "elbow" towards their wing tip. Males will only have one set(as they don't need the extra insulation for setting chicks).
Hum,
Karen
I can feather sex my Light Sussex from hatch thru 4 days old.
