Can I stop a rooster from crowing???

I hope your rooster is happy where he is going

Sorry you had to get rid of him.

Can't believe what a bad bad rooster day it is today!

My friend where he will going phoned this afternoon.

Unfortunately, he rang to say that my first rooster, Lucy the Rhode Island was taken by a fox today, in broad daylight too!

It was unfortunate and I know these are the risks of free ranging, but what terrible timing! It has been a long time since any foxes have been seen there so hopefully all the neighbours will be onto it.

Someone needs to create a rooster that doesn't crow!!! Just think how many people you would make so very happy...
Foxes have sure been in the news lately, and all during daylight! I do hope the second one fairs better!

Is there a operation that can decrow a rooster? Like what they can do to a dog to debark him. Cut the voice cords????? Just asking. Might be a little sad, seeing a rooster trying to crow and no sound.

my next door neighbor was raising chickens and decided to park at least a dozen roosters in a coop right next to the fence under our bedroom window. it was miserable. i had to ask him to move them to the other side of the yard and away from our bedroom window. his answer was when he did that his wife complained about them keeping her up. he said he would rather have us mad at him as opposed to his wife. i finally had to tell him to move them or i would have to complain to the animal control folks. a dozen roosters 20 yards from the bedroom window is just too much. he moved them to the other side of his yard where they were closer to his bedroom and his wife made him get rid of them. it was o.k. to disturb us but not themselves.

my rooster lives indoors. most of the time he lives here at work but i try to take him home once or twice a month for a sleep over. we put him in a cage in the garage and just tough it out if he decides to start crowing. but since he is inside our house the neighbors don't have to suffer. i make sure and put a dark blanket over his cage at night and unless we really try to wake him up he sleeps through the night without a peep.

why not keep your roo in your garage and try some soundproofing. he may disturb you occasionally but the neighbors won't be bothered.

My friend had a caponized rooster and he still crowed
How early did it get caponized? It could also be a "slip." I've been researching capons for my 4-5 week cockerel, we can't have him crowing. I want to get him caponized this week before he lets out a full crow. It seems too late for yours though.

I accidentally had some roosters that came mixed in a batch of pullets... And mine crowed round the clock! No street lights, no moon-light, inside a coop, and still crowing from 10pm til noon. My coop is at the back of 3 acres, but I still couldn't sleep.
- I suspect that "Crowing at sunrise" is a fallacy, with farmers just noticing the crowing then.
- Farmers I've talked to suggest only one (admittedly drastic) solution to rooster crowing: guillotine / axe.

BTW - NO, I would NOT like to get that free mystery chick with my order...
