I'm barely getting any eggs from my 6-7 Silkie hens and I know one for sure is broody. I never see any other hen in the next box, but there still not laying but 1-2 day. Anyways, I'm trying to break my broody hen (not going so well). I don't want her sitting on the eggs so I've been taking them from her and storing them for when my bators empty. How long can a hen sit on them before they start to incubate? I check every couple/few hours and more if I can for eggs. Sometimes If I have to leave I can't check for eggs for 5-6 hours or more sometimes. Would I still be able to store an egg if she's been on it for that long? Whats the time frame? Thanks!

Thanks! I feel better now
