Can I Switch Feed Now (5 wks)?

We've been feeding medicated feed from the start for our flock of Barred Rocks. They are 5 weeks old today and I'm about to use the last of my big back of feed.

I need to buy another bag and don't know what to buy next.

Any suggestions? I'm buying this at Southern States. Thanks.

I was advised to keep chicks on starter for 16 weeks. It seemed a little extreme to me but I haven't lost any babies to cocci since I've done this.

Keep them on starter. There's no need to change to anything until laying virtually begins. Starter comes in both medicated and non-medicated.

If the med. starter is getting a little pricy and you what to cut down. You can buy a bag of fancy scratch (basically seeds) and mix it with there feed. Most mine from 5- 7 weeks are eating either med. starter mixed with scratch or laying crumbles mixed with scratch and they do just fine. I haven't lost any either.
