Hey,
My pigeon is a month and some days old: Here's a picture of him

I've been training him to fly to my hand on command which is challenging because he flies to me as I get to my position, but Ya majority of the time he flies to me on command...
BUT that isn't it! I want him to fly to me only,
He flies to anyone that puts out their hand and that annoys me because when he's doing his flying routine, someone could easily capture him.
I have my special whistle for him, but when one my brother's or cousins walks by, he flies to them and stays...
I want him to only get use to me, everyone else is the enemy, he should run, walk or fly away from strangers...(I probably sound very selfish).
But yea, I want him only flying to me, cause he's going to get kidnapped easily..

I'll say now I'm not a professional but I do have 4 feral rescues 3 I raised from squab size. Do to us having pets, how I trained my babies to only react to me is 1 ) don't socialize them whith other people 2) use same calls every time 3) rewards are best! My main girl will come when I call her and the others follow but if some ones out whith me they watch me from the roof until I call Fj(my flock leader )over. I do a whistle alarm call to get them to pay attention and will immitate wing beats and contact call to get them to come. Then I'll reward them whith corn or feed. But they know not to approach people whith out my say so due to teaching them that alarm call reaction to people and other animals. A non skittish pigeon is a dead pigeon sad to say :( not sure if you're a will catch on now that he's already people oriented, but you can try :/ my birds won't get within 3 feet of a person whithout me sweet talking them.

I'll say now I'm not a professional I think that member has some very valued advise.
I have right now 40+ mostly white racing or homing pigeons. I would class myself as a self appointed professional with 68 trips around the sun and add only two things to their thoughts:
1) Reward you pigeon with shelled unsalted peanuts as a treat only.
2) Get different people other than yourself to threaten or scare you bird with a flag or quick arm waving gestures daily and repeatedly if possible.

Pigeons and crows are among the most intelligent birds. As a rule of thumb they "DO NOT LIKE TO BE PICKED UP OR HANDLED." Guaranteed you pigeon has some of both homing and facial recognition skills. I had a pet crow that could pick me out of a crowd of kids at recess at a nearby school regardless of my clothing.

My racing pigeons are mostly tame when in the loft and only fly to me "ESPECIALLY THE ALPHA BIRDS". I have a few that are aloof the younger pigeons in particular who are bullied and not allowed to fly to me due to the pecking order but are usually at my feet. All will eat from my hand when confined and offered. My pigeons are not so tame when outside the loft free flying some will come when called for a treat and "FORGET IT" when they are released and bound for home.

I find my ferals are naturally wary of others, usually even buddy who feeds them bread corn ect, but if in cage they'll take snacks through bars now if I whistle for them to, but one female wants use both for her mates as well as few female pigeons and several to dozen male pigeons. Just beonly person feeding petting them, but don't worry so much if they're going to family for now for food, as when they grow up ot you get other pigeons, they'll get naturally flighty except with you/whoever works with them.. especially as they feel safer together so they'll depend less on other people for protection more you as handler if have other pigeons (I look under bridges and parking structures for too slow to fly fledglings and badly growing squeakers that'd die anyway if not taken). Pigeons are like stray rabbits (European kind), and dogs, it's in their dna to be with us and they generally live far better and longer lives kept well when given decent feed housing and exercise.

I find wild bird seed works best as treat, as most of homers except one line I hope to get again, and rest of types n breeds, didn't like peanuts in any way shape or form, but most racing pigeons like the added protien they get from soy legums peas beans nuts, but I mix in chicken layer ration so mine do not crave as much and don't over all eat insects as much anymore when out.
