Can I turn a stock tank into a watering system for my chickens?

My older brother might try to snag some for fishing if I do that.

If you use gold fish or minnies, put a piece of screen over the outflow so they don't go through the hose. Most stock tanks have a hose hookup at the bottom.

Really? I didn't know that! Great idea!

Or minnows will do the job too I believe. Fathead or Rosy Reds.

Tried minnows---they jump out, Goldfish stay in.

I'm sure my daughter would get a kick out of watching goldfish. Maybe it would provide a good distraction when she's outside with me when I'm feeding the chickens, she can feed the goldfish!

REMEMBER: PVC is photo-degradable (sunlight makes it weak and brittle over time).

And as far as fish go... if you talk to your Extension Office, they might have good Mosquito Fish suggestions for your area. I know there's a fish called a "mosquito fish", but beyond that I don't know how to identify it... (to the Google!)

I don't know what fish poo would do for chickens, tho. If your outlet was higher than the level of fish poo, and it didn't get agitated much.... ?
