can I use an egg carton inside incubator to keep eggs large end up?

Thank you for the added information, McSpin. I raised one long side than the other just about the same as my egg turner. I also use an incubator with a fan....hummm. I think I will still try the egg carton method again...but this delayed hatching is killing me.

I have three hatched from yesterday, three from today and a couple more pipping. The other six that were fertile and growing when they were checked on day 18 are still just sitting there.

Maybe it's a humidity issue. I had far more problems on my first attempt at hatching eggs, when I didn't have the humidity correct. The big difference with my last attempt was a much better control over humidity and what I believe to be a correct level.

Well I wanted to know about the carton method and I cannot say I would try it again. We are at day 24 and not a sound out of anyone. By now should have something. Candled at 18 days and had many good eggs. Temp and humidity ok, Don't know what went wrong, they are shipped eggs but even the last time we tried with shipped eggs we got 2 eggs that hatched and we did not have the temp, humidity regulated as well as we did this time. So don't know if I can come to conclusion on if keeping them in the carton the whole time had any effect. I guess we will go with local fertile eggs and try again. Sure is hard when you put all your hopes into these eggs. I guess I should not be trying new things with fairly expensive rare breed eggs. Anyone in Maine want to sell some fertile eggs to a disheartened chicken lover???

Hey, I cant help you on the egg part but Advice not for you to use a egg carton just lay the eggs on there side and when it come time to turn them just take the palm of your fingers and roll it to the other side or the next marking you have on there for instence the x or the o!.

I've tried to write before but nothing happen. I'm getting 12 bantam eggs n I'm so darn nervous I have 5 brand new incubators on my dining table yet the one I like doesn't have anything for egg. So I tried ice cube trays ,votive holder and egg carton . I don't know what to do and my eggs are coming in two days! I so need help, I'm sick.

Generally speaking the proper way to incubate eggs is on their side, but commercial hatcheries will place them pointy-end down to save space and hatch more eggs at a time. In nature eggs are laid on their side, so if you're looking for whether you should do this or try the egg carton method, I suggest just putting them on their side if you have enough room.
