It is not advised to use sand in brooders with chicks. They can mistake the sand for food and eat so much of it an die. So it is best to wait on the sand until they are adults and know better.
Some species of quail you can keep two males together. But Button quail can be aggressive. So you are better off either getting two males mates, or keeping them separated. Two males together can hurt each other. And you should never keep two pairs together either. Just two birds, male and female together in the same enclosure.![]()
