Can I use wood to build a hatching tray for GQF 1500

Hey everyone / anyone. Can I use unfinished / untreated wood to build a hatching tray for a GQF 1500?

When it comes time for hatching, (day 19) I would stop the egg turner, slide one tray out, place the eggs ready to hatch in the wooden tray and slide the hatching tray in the slot left by pulling the metal tray.

I'm thinking of doing this because if I leave them in the regular trays they hop out and run around on the floor of the incubator.

What does everyone think?

I had a similar problem in my 1250 hatcher. The first time I hatched several trays full everyone ended up mixed up on the floor. My solution was to bend up some fences of hardware cloth like this.

In the hatcher the trays are wider so it isn't necessary to do down the sides. In the incubator I think you would need the fence all the way around.

This is what works for me and I can still see what's going on in there.

i too had a problem with some of the hatchlings falling out of their trays and going into the bottom - adding a barrier or fence with the hardware cloth worked for me.

Any wood will do.It is nice to have xtra trays.

I though pressure treated wood would be a no no!
