Can I wash a newborn chick??

Hi all, I had a chick hatch out yesterday and it still had a blood sack or something hanging. It almost looked like the yolk, but veiny and red. Anyway, I did not expect this chick to live more than a few hours, but it has been over 24 hrs and she is one tough cookie. She still has a bit of the cord left. Her legs see to want to stick out, forward. She is so sticky she can barely get around. Can I wash her?? Or should I wash her?? ANy help would be appreciated.

I have washed baby chicks butts but had to keep warm..I leave that up to you..just I have done before and all was ok..if over 24 hours should not be to much problem. keep warm..

I have had sticky chicks hatch and when that happend I just held them under warm running water in the sink, just don't let it run in thier face. then used wet cotton to wash their heads and face. You can also just carefully hold them in a warm bowl of water and rub to loosen the goo. I have never had 1 die that I bathed.

It is just having a hard time getting around its wings and everything are stuck.

I've had to wash mine from time to time, and I always use a cup of warm water (warm to the touch), then when I get them cleaned up, I generally pop them back into the incubator to dry. They come out of the egg wet too, so I figured it was warm enough for them. After a couple of hours or so, I pull them from the bator and put them in the brooder.

I did this with some listless chicks after their heat lamp burned out. After an hour or so in the bator they were really active and happy again.

I just washed her in a bowl of warm water. She seems happier and able to move her legs more. They are sticking out in front of her. Both of them. Not out to the side. If this problem is not corrected herself, what can I do??
