can mandarin ducks breed with call ducks?

huh.. didnt know that.. Cool.. thanks for the info..I dont have any mandarins.. just wondering just in case I did get some and had them with the calls...

yep, due to the genetic make up of mandarins, it is impossible for them to make a fertile cross bred with anything. They can mate with others, and a call will mate the heck out of your poor mandarin hen, but all eggs will be sterile. I for one wouldnt put any wild duck in with calls though, the males will peck the wilds to death and ride the hens unrelentlessly.

no mandarins will not breed with call ducks .the closest relative to the mandarin is the wood duck and they cant interbreed at least they cant produce fertile eggs.mandarins can only breed with other mandarins. don't put mandarins with call ducks ,the hen will be mated continuously until she probably dies and the male will be pecked very badly.keep duck species that form pairs only with other monogamous duck species .all tame ducks are descended from the mallard (except muscovy ducks),the mallards are sex obsessed and it is common for females to drown during "gang rape" taking place in the water. i have never seen a wood duck or mandarin mating or trying to mate with a female other than its mate

Like everyone said No they wont be fertile. I kept several prs of manderins, 2pr wood ducks and 1pr of gray calls together for 4yrs ( but in a big pen about 30x60) No problems with anyone except had a female manderin and a male wood duck that loved each other (never had fertile eggs of course and also just wanted to see for myself what would come out of this ) I seperated the wood ducks and sold the calls last year. In a smaller pen it might be a different story. And also every duck is not the same. Before that in the same pen I also had a white call duck pr with no problems. I have a trio of mallards in there right now. But if there is a problem this spring with anyone I can pull the mallards out and put them in another pen. Thats why its good to have multiple pens. Sometimes mallard type ducks want to mate with every one though. Gotta watch em

Raise call ducks and mandarins from birth and it can work
so have I duck man. I have never once seen a mandarin x anything. Would like to see proof of it if you have some pics.

Now yes they can and will mate with them and ruin your eggs. Like Destin said about, mallard derived birds are super aggressive breeders and will mix with about anything, but in the mandarin case, they will not be fertile. They are one of those genetic anomalies that just dont make hybrids. But I have always keep mandarins in massive mixed species collections, literally hundreds of birds per pen. Never once seen a successful hybrid from them. Now the other species are a different story, happens all the time with them.
In my experience, I have never made one, and have not been able to find a pic anywhere that is 100% positive a mandarin hybrid. What few pics you may find on the web, are obvious miss ID ed birds, most are wood duck hybrids
