Can Mareks autopsies be wrong?

Fabulous thread here. Will check it out in more detail after vacation. I seriously need to start writing these references down. I’m usually on BYC on my phone and slowly committing everything to menory. I need a methodical way of taking good notes. I bought a couple little “chicken” (cute pic on front) journals to start with, for when I’m on my phone & not computer.

I just got another report they did further tests and it came back as a rare neoplasm type of cancer not MAREKS no known cause just a very rare type of avian cancer that they had not seen before.
By any chance did your report give the Neosplasm type of cancer a name? Both Avian Lymphoid Leucosis and Marek's are Neoplastic diseases, tumors and cancer are common in both.

I've only seen a few states that offer them for free, and many charge as much as $250.
I have notice most states are not free. Some will accept samples or a carcass by Veterinarian submission only. There are few that are free or don't charge a great deal of money. I suppose a lot depends on funding and ...??? I know NC just raised their fees 10% so now necropsy for up to 8birds costs $30, that is not too bad if I ever felt I wanted to have one done, but there is no way I would pay $250 or pay a vet $$ then turn around and pay the lab too.

Kiki, how much does Texas charge for necropsies? I think AZ and or NM are something like $250 each.

Basic necropsy is 50, plus 65 for testing of up to 8 tissues.
Yes, I saw that, but does histopatholgy include culture and sensitivity testing? That's the test where they grow bacteria and see what antibiotics will treat it.

I am not sure.
I will call and ask.
