A squirrel dropped green mistletoe branches into my chicken run and my chickens ate most of it before I was able to remove the mistletoe. I am now worried that my chickens might die because I've heard that mistletoe is a poisonous plant.

How much did they eat?

My understanding is the leaves and parts of the plant are toxic, but unless they ingested a lot, it probably won't kill them. It may cause them to have some loose poop.

I'd monitor them, see that they are eating/drinking well.

So it has been now 3 days since the incident and all of my 4 chickens are doing great. Fingers crossed🤞☺️
I was surprised by how much my chickens loved eating the mistletoe, they even tried to steal it from my hand as I picked up the pieces of the ground.
I will keep monitoring the girls and hope for the best.

Thank you for your reply Wyop Rock! I don't know how much the chickens ate but I found 2 large branches with now leaves left on it, and a bunch of leave pieces on which my chickens still did snack. When I saw this I immediately removed everything.

Sounds like they will be o.k. !
