Mom has her eggs and new baby under her right now. I have learned that when you incubate eggs, you do not want to lift the lid while they're hatching, because humidity will escape and you run the risk of the baby becoming shrink-wrapped. Does the same thing apply to a mom who is sitting on her eggs while they're hatching, if she gets off to eat and drink?

In my experience, no.

She has been sitting in this same spot since Thursday night. I have the food and water literally pushed up against her so at least she can get hydration and nutrition. She now has two babies that are hatched. One hatched Friday, one hatched yesterday. There are still three eggs under her. I’m dying to see what’s happening under her, but on another website, The members unanimously told me to leave her alone. lol I mean, at some point I will have to intervene and look under her.

Hens get off to eat and drink about once a day, you can check if it's killing you.
