Can my 18 week old NH Red be laying an egg?

Quote: Indeed...tho I make my presence frequent in the coop, doing all kinds of things from regular chores to modifying the coop accouterments, that way they are used to me and it doesn't shake them up when I do need to observe a problem.

Oh, and another thing I thought of after I made that last post......every birds 'normal' can change, for often unapparent (to us) reasons.
So be ready to see that, it will take time and experience with observations to know when something is truly 'wrong' or just a shift in peccadilloes in the flock or an individual bird.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease! I do like the idea of self sufficient chickens.

Just fyi, Plinky gave us an egg every day for 7 days then took one day off! Shes a hard worker.

Also an FYI, on her day off there was a soft shelled mess on the poop board. dont know if it was hers or a signal that another will start laying soon.

Thanks again for helping me figure these girls out!
