It is 87 degrees with light and variable wind 5-10 mph.
Can my chicks go outside for a while, and can they peck in the dirt?
Thanks in advance

Mine are nearly 4 weeks old and they are out there as we, er, type! They are having a grand old time! I've got them in a big dog cage, so they are protected somewhat but they have access to everything.

Going to go back out and check on them now.

They'll probably love it. Remember that hens will have their chicks out on the dirt pecking around from the first couple of days after they're hatched. Ours were closer to 5 weeks when they went out on the dirt (but they never were inside-they were in the coop from day one) but that was only because our run wasn't ready yet.

Just be sure to give them some shade and some cold water. Heat is harder on chicks than cold. They will love pecking in the dirt and probably won't want to come back inside.
