Can my chicken be friends with a stray cat?

We really want to trap this kitten and have it fixed and at least a rabies shot. Ultimately would love to incorporate it into our home. It is just not going into the trap. We will keep trying. All of our animals are rescue pets.

I think they will be friends with the in pole position. Our cats give the hens a wide berth due to their very long pointy end and likeness to Velociraptors.

My 2 hens (large breed) always got along well with my neighbor's cats. The cats spent most of the day in my property with no issues. When my hens hatched some chicks, I was already prepared to lose half of them to cats. Instead, the cats literally disappeared. The hens probably beat them up and scared them so hard that they now avoid my property like the ground was lava. Chicks are 6 weeks old now and I never saw a cat again.

We rescued a cat a couple years ago and had her fixed but she didn't like living indoors. She now sleeps in the green house beside the coop and hangs out with the chickens when they free range lol

Had young cat here show up.( I live in rural area) Have hen with new chicks. Watched cat around hen with chicks. The cat had alot of curiosity about the chicks. So much curiosity I took it to the animal shelter today.
Month ago a young cat showed up, tame and not malnorished ( prolly someone dropping it off on town road) and we decided to keep it and get it fixed, shots. Named it Lucky, because it was lucky my daughter wanted it so the cat found a home.
We can try control the situation with the one cat, but not the other.
Last year had feral cat around lost 4 or 5 chicks, roaming male I think. Here 4 or 5 days than gone.

Please don't anybody do this ... If we wanted more cats (or dogs) we would have them!

Strays (drop offs) just bring problems ... My cats aren't going to just accept a new cat to share it's territory or food with it ... If my cats don't kill it, most likely I will!

Strays (drop offs) don't generally have the best health, I don't need that brought into my place!

If you catch a critter that's not yours, take it to a shelter, where it has a chance!

If you have a critter that you don't want anymore, take it to a shelter, as they are not likely to live "the good life" if you abandon them in the country.
That's really the best way to deal with the stray. Some shelters have a program called TSR trap, spay or neuter and release. They will notch a cat's ear or tattoo them to indicate they are not reproducing.
Thank you for your remarks. Just releasing them is actually cruel.
Thank you for educating me!
