Can my chicken be in shock or scared?

I came home last night to find 'Blanche' just laying on the ground and it was dark already. The girls always go to the coop around dusk. I honestly thought she was dead, my husband scooped her up and she was listless and couldn't hold her own weight. We took her inside (and her best friend) and put them in a crate for the night. I got up this morning and took them both outside, and Blanche was kinda weird, standing off by herself, not eating any of the watermelon (her favorite) but she was standing and holding her own weight. I went back out about an hour later and she back to normal. What is this? Could she of gotten scared or had a seizure or what? Please could some one help me out? Thanks

How hot was it where you are today? Heat-stroke? I had that happen to one of my hens last summer, while the rest of the flock in the exact same coop, with access the exact same waterer, were fine.

Hi GrandaChickie, we live in Az. so heat could be the culprit, but the area they hang out in during the summer is well shaded and we have portable misters on the area too. If it was heat stroke what do I do for her now? Should I just watch her or put her in the house crate during the day or what? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Well, I had to soak my stricken chicken in the kitchen sink, then put her in front of the fan. She had diarrhea and was lethargic and weak after that. I kept her inside the air-conditioned house, but I knew she was better, when I opened the back door, and she raced to freedom!
