My son tested positive for type A flu at the pediatrician on Tuesday. The doctor doesn't test for H1N1 but rather for type a,b, or c. As of friday both my husband and I are sick, although this flu is not near as bad as the flu we had 4 years ago. Anyway what I wanted to know is can my chickens get the flu from us? I've got a house full of people not feeling well, I don't want to add a coop full of chickens not feeling well.

Well, it's possible that one of you hase some version of swine/avian flu. I'd wash carefully before and after going to the coop and wear a face mask. As you say, you don't need a coop filled with sick chickens! The mask will also protect you from dust, which could aggravate your flu. Sorry you're not feeling well...
