I have a coop, which they sleep in. Is it ok to just let them run loose in our fenced yard? I am just concerned if this would be dangerous for them? Thanks!

Free ranging always comes with risks. Many people choose to accept these risks and go ahead, many people choose not to do so.

Your particular risks depend on where exactly you are, but most areas have hawks that may show up, many areas have raccoons, weasels, foxes, etc, that can climb or get through small holes in your fence. If you live in the city, you may not know what predators are around, and may not even know what hit your birds after it happens. There are ways to minimize this risk if you really want to, but it may be simpler to build them a secure run.

Also, keep in mind that your birds maybe the flighty sort who decide that your neighbor's yard seems like more fun, and that can cause problems, especially if your neighbors don't like chickens or they have dogs that would like to eat your chickens.

Keep in mind that wherever they are allowed to free range that there will be poop and plant/grass destruction. It is always best to have a dedicated fenced area away from your flowers, patio, sidewalk, etc... If you have guard dogs or live in area with few predators then the danger to them is much reduced. Our flock has free ranged for many years with no losses.
