My pekin ducklings are 3 weeks old and are outside during the day. They are too big for their inside cage and the bathtub. I'm not sure if they are old enough to stay in their outside cage all night. they have a large cage and then a sleeping/nesting box attached to it with a heating lamp in it. it is suppose to get down to 30 degrees tonight, could they sleep outside tonight?

I'd say no, not if it gets down to 30, they'll freeze to death if they were a lot older is say sure but since you're just introducing them and they're so young yet, no, mine were I think 2 months when I put them out

the thing is I don't have a cage they can fit into... and they can jump out of the bath tub. what age do you think will be best? the rest of the weeks night will be over 40

and they have been living outside during the day for a week in a large cage. Also they have most of their feathers already coming in and out of casings

I mean you could try to do it, but I'd put a heat lamp out there for them to huddle under at night and make sure to show them where it is-possibly even put a barricade up so they'll stay near it. But I wouldn't unless it's absolutely the last option

Also-does anyone know how to sex week old mallard without vent sexing them? I'm picking some up tomorrow and need to be positive about the gender

well they have an enclosed box with a heat lamp in it outside like a nesting box. that's what they would sleep in it stays over 60
