I have a Khaki Campbell crossed to Mallard (I think) pair of ducks. They are about 6-7 months old and the female started laying eggs last month. She laid 6 last month that we took for eating and then she stopped. This month she has laid eggs daily for the last 9 days and we planned to take them and incubate them when we had 10. We are very new to this and up to this point had left the eggs with her until time to incubate. She had been mostly ignoring the eggs and they were sort of spread out in an one area of the enclosure - until this morning. This morning we went out to find she had laid a 9th egg and build a very nice nest for them all. Does this mean she might sit on them herself or should we still incubate as planned?

With her mallard heritage there is a strong possibility that she will successfully brood and raise her own ducklings. My Mom always used to say that she would have to knit booties for such late hatches.
