Can my muscovy drake go broody?

We have been finding a couple of eggs outside, that are green waxxy and a rounded top. We are pretty posotive that our only two muscovys are drakes. We are also pretty sure that the wild pacific black duck is laying the eggs. The drake (99.9%) sure was sitting on two eggs when all the other fowl was gone foraging because it was early morning. Im not sure if he thinks that he is responsible to incubate the eggs or if he is really sick. Any one can help, thanks in advance. P.s Their is now four eggs under him and I have seen no mating.

Do you mean sick sick or a little sick in the head because he is sitting on eggs? I have 2 Muscovy drake and have never seen either one sitting on eggs.. scratches head.. but i have seen my gander go into the duck house and stand and look at the eggs before.. Have no idea what might be going through his mind.

We had a very broody male cockatiel before. Ducks? Why not?

I think maybe sick sick but im getting up in 10 mins (4:50am) to see who is laying the eggs. I thought it was him but know I think it is wild ducks cause im pretty sure that he is a male duck.

Oh My at 5:25 he went in the nest and layed an egg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he got out at 6am exactly. SO **** HAPPPY!!!!!!!!! so its him after all

I had never seen it or heard of it previously but my Muscovy drake shared nest sitting duties with his wife...when she would get up to eat or bathe, he would sit on the eggs...and sometimes he sat way past her patience for him doing so and she would be fussing at him to get the heck up and let her back on the eggs...they are quite a couple...you just have to love a broody drake...

How exciting Now you have to post back when you have ducklings!! Congrats..

No ducklings :'( no drake :'(. But when she goes broody we might stick a few fertile khaki campbell eggs under her, this is her first cluth of eggs and we allready have a double yoker! We bought some baby plymouth rock chicks only three days old and or there excurision into the back yard the duck came woddeling up and started wagging her tail. But the babies jumped on her big flappers and that gave her a fright and she woddled off but she didn't try to peck them or anything
