A few weeks ago we brought home 5 hen/ 1 roo Orpingtons. They have all got along fairly well and so we decided to try our hand at another breed of chickens, Old English Bantems, 3 hens and 1 roo, that we brought home yesterday. We seperated them into 2 coops last night and today we let them all out to free range when the Orpington Rooster "flipped" out. He became not only aggressive toward the OEB Rooster but also efter we secured the OEB rooster to a safe place, he (the Orp rooster) went on to continue his rampage crowing all day, pecking and chasing his own hen flock, and just basically being all unglued. I hope we havent "warped" or traumatized ANY of these precious birds (wasn't our intent) but now we have no idea what to do or where to go from here. Any suggestions? Thank you and P.S.- up until allowing all free range together today this particular Orpington Rooster has been the most docile and quiet roo Ive ever seen!...
