No, I have had a fence about 2 feet high and they couldn't get out of that so 6' should be perfectly fine.

Haha that last post! Mine don't fly, but they like to stretch their wings. I've read that because they are breed for commercial use they are too heavy for flight. My little girl sure can jump though!

I will be, yes. I'd like to sell them when they're about a week old or so to ensure they're healthy.

Where are you located?

I have only one boy duck at the pond that I can see now. My grandma says the others have been mating and I can't see any of them now. Is it normal for them to go to private areas by themselves to nest?

Tell that to Chandler, my Pekin....he literally just flew three feet across my living room...I know the little bugger can jump, but we (my sons and I) saw his fly, wings flapping, feet over a foot off the ground...I about had a heart attack....he is a solo indoor duck...still in shock!

I grew up with pekins, got them in my Easter basket one year. And we had them forever, they "flew" around the yard and occasionally over the fence. But not for long distances. They can't actually take flight.
