Solved Can people stop responding to 10 year old threads?

Someone asked what a GUI was a while back. It stands for Graphical User Interface, and I have no idea what the heck the poster meant by getting rid of the GUI would solve almost 100% of annoyances. Unless they were talking about annoyances between keyboard and chair...

I for one do not miss the days of using a prompt for everything. PITA to remember all the commands and typos were a lot less forgiving.

There are some text-based browsers that still exist (e.g. Lynx), but they certainly wouldn't provide the best browsing experience on BYC. 🤣

Something I've noticed on this site is how frequently people (especially new members) resurrect ancient threads and ask OP questions. It really messes up the flow of the website, because I'll see an emergency thread pop up, go to answer it and see a time-stamp from like 2007 or something. It also provides outdated information for people arriving to the site. Is there any way we can fix this or have something implemented to stop people replying to such old threads?

Just thought I'd bring it up. Hope everyone's having a great day!
I think mostly the issue is that people reply without noticing the date. If there was a notification like, "You are replying to a thread that is over X months old. Do you still want to reply?"
I think would cut down on the accidental revival of old threads.

It was discussed ad nauseam.

Just need to look at the dates!
