I have seven Cotournix quail and seven chicken babies. Can they peacefully live together? I have an 80 square foot coop with run. It is totally covered with chicken wire and no spaces for the birds to escape. This would make things a lot easier if I could keep them together.

The short answer is maybe. Chicks have no problems together and
I've brooded tons of chickens and quail in the same brooder.

Coturnix can fly pretty well so the run must be secure. I have wild quail
in my woods now that many have escaped.

My full grown quail jump out of their cages often into the chicken area.
The chickens are curious but have never harmed them.

When I put my coturnix in with the marans the marans came near by to then and checked them out but thenwent back to being lazy bums

All was well the only reason they still aren't together is because I need to make the flight pen more secure. Also... if you're raising your coturnix for eggs/breeding you're probably not going ot see many eggs... I could easily see chickens seeing a coturnix egg and making a nice meal out of it as they'd be bite sized....let alone them just pecking or stepping on the egg will break it.

I know For bobwhite chicks, if any body broods them with larger chicks, watch out for vent picking...

bobwhite chicks are small so when they look up while being brooded with larger chicks have a tendency to pick at a flexing vent opening of the other chicks.. gotta watch out for this big time,,

I know when I let my quail get a couple of weeks old (one week minimum) I can brood them with the chicks, and I've brooded newly hatched ducks with three-four week old quail before too without problems--for a couple of weeks. As the ducks/chickens outgrow the quail after a few weeks you could have issues if there isn't much room. Room doesn't sound like a problem for you, but I would definitely be concerned about keeping the quail where I wanted them.

I have my quail pens inside the chicken coop and shut the door when I get into it so when (not if) they get out and can catch them and put them back.
