Can rabbits dig through sandstone?

Hey everyone, I have a question for the rabbit colony folks. Does anyone know if rabbits can dig through sandstone? I'm considering adding a rabbit wing onto the chicken coop, which is located in an area with sandstone about 6-9 inches down. I'm planning to bury hardware cloth down to the sandstone, thinking that predators shouldn't be able to gt in, but will it keep the rabbits from burrowing out?
