The quick link will get annoying after awhile as it gets rusty. The padlock will be annoying all the time. I say quick link but replace them often.I'm trying to decide between a padlock and a quick link for locking my pop door.

I la-la-LOVE my combination locks! Had them for years. No problems with them. No lost keys. And no raccoons!I'm trying to decide between a padlock and a quick link for locking my pop door.

Rust isn't a huge problem where I live, so this might work, a padlock would get tedious. The quick link will get annoying after awhile as it gets rusty. The padlock will be annoying all the time. I say quick link but replace them often.
I second these. But I use dog leash clips on my coopI la-la-LOVE my combination locks! Had them for years. No problems with them. No lost keys. And no raccoons!

I use Snap clips in latches for all doors except the chicken entrance to the run from free range( automatic door) and the chicken door into the coop( a drop door on a string that I can operate from outside the run and coop). I love Snap clips and use them for gate cable/chains: to hold temporary fencing together, etc. I have not had a coon in any chicken yard since I enclosed my free ranging patch with electric fence. I made the mistake of allowing the chickens to range in the wilderness behind my area and within 20 feet of me a bobcat took one of my chickens so that is an unsafe practice I have stopped. The quick link will get annoying after awhile as it gets rusty. What is that called and how does it work?I don’t use any kind of carabiners, snap or quick links. I do use plenty of these though.
