Can raccoons open quick links?

I use barrel bolts three one at the top one in the middle one at the bottom . But I see a lot of other methods here . I haven't seen a coon with long enough arms to unlock them all at the same time .

They're called coon cuffs and you put bait in them and the coons stick their hand in and that triggers it to pinch their hand. then you dispose of them the next day

Technically coon cuffs is just a brand/style of trap that’s very similar. The coon daggers are far better designed and better made. I use the cheap duke brand too but they aren’t as good. For the average chicken owner any of them works just fine though.

I’m general snap links work perfectly 99.9% of the time but….I have had animals manipulate them when used in the anchoring system on traps and get loose. It’s very rare and I still use them but it can happen. If it’s easy for you to open it’s *easier for an animal to open too.
