Can Roos Egg Squat????

Ok, I have a EE that I was 100% he was a he. He lives with my large fowl and another EE roo. Well this boy has saddle/hackle feathers but has no crowed at all. I want to say he is about 5 or 6 months old. Yesterday I went to pat him and he did the egg squat twice and shook off like he is a hen?!?! I am very confused. Here are a couple pics of him please help!! LOL

We love our Eagle Boy, but maybe he needs to be called Eagle Girl??!?!

Hun, that ain't no roo.....that is one beutiful female with hackles!!!!!! At least, that's what I think. Is your other roo an EE too? Does your other roo have a bigger comb? Her/his comb looks tiny for a roo. You've got an interesting pullet there.

How to put this? Perhaps your larger rooster is teaching him to be subservient?

So hens can have hackles?!?!? My other EE roo, is actually in my avatar. He has a single comb not a pea comb and its HUGE!! He is a lavendar so when we get him, which was suppose to be a her, we named her Violet, well now that he is a roo and his crow is more like a scream, he is now name Violent Rooster Boy. LOL He takes good care of his girls but can get a little rough LOL

Try putting this one in its own cage for awhile...see if it begins to crow or grow a larger comb. I think some secondary sex characteristics can be delayed under stressful conditions. Perhaps comb development is one of them? We all know they delay crowing when a dominant rooster is about.

It is possible for an animal to have testes on one side and ovaries on the other, but it is very rare. Even so, if it were such a rare beast, the only way to know for sure is to isolate it from the others and watch or cutting it open to look inside (which I am not suggesting - just saying you would know then.)

LOL!! Doesn't matter if he is a he or a she, but when he did the egg squat I was confused

Maybe we will just call him Eagle and drop the boy/girl part LOL
