Can Roosters go "Mad"

Health issue of causes one birds behavior to change. The change in behavior makes so other(s) in flock no longer recognize afflicted then treat it like an outsider. A healthy rooster can make short work of another bird that is already compromised and can not get away.

Changes can be overt behavior or simply voice, Mareks can cause both as can other conditions.

Yes this is certainly true...this particular hen was never attacked by any other. Didn't fit the etiology of mareks. No other affected. I concluded it as a muscular injury, a sprain/strain that elicited pain on palpation and rotation of both thighs. Chickens certainly can sense when things are wrong with another, animals are good that way. It is too bad the roos can't sense the machette heading their way.

It is a bit bizzare..if more than one chicken turned on an individual..I'd think there was something wrong with that hen...but until then she was courted by other roosters, and still is. One of her original flockmates stays with her. I can't keep a rooster with that sort of behavior. Apparently he is doing OK with the other flock.

Finishing up farm chores when I witnessed our 5 yr.old Gamecock, kill an 18 month old hen. He has never been aggressive toward anyone nor anything. In the last 3 weeks I had found 2 dead hens and I chalked it up to maybe parasites, since it's been a wet season and I had gotten behind with my herbal wormer for 2 weeks. Needless to say, old "Snooze" has been given the deep sleep. I have kept chickens for over 15 years and have never seen something like this, he was on a vendetta. Everything I have read so far does not quite match. Our chickens free range over an acre and he was the only Roo. Any ideas?
Gamecocks can be quite dangerous, but I dont know your roo so i cant say

I must nip this statement in bud. Behavior reported is not typical of gamecocks. I keep them, chickenandchick you do not. Make effort to keep comments in realm of your expereince.
I am sorry, i was not trying to offend, just what i have heard. I am sorry

Your statement does not offend, rather it is incorrect and it is my responsibility to ensure such a comment is challenged to reduce odds it might be taken up by others and even yourself as fact.
Ok, thankyou for that, and next time I will not say what I have heard, but what I know for a fact
