I actually found him a home too on a farm in Maine… He didn’t go to Maine yet but will soon. 12 hens there and the rooster for them just passed.Thanks. 3 of them battle/spar alot so I guessed they were
Sparring is not a sign of a male. I have only ever had pullets, never a male, and they have all chest bumped and challenged eachother. It's normal for pullets and cockerels at a young age.Thanks. 3 of them battle/spar alot so I guessed they were
Do you want to post photos of them? Thanks. 3 of them battle/spar alot so I guessed they were
I think this says it all, doesn't it?I also live in a neighborhood that doesn’t allow crowing
Ohh cool… do pullets spar with roos when young? Asking because Snowy my one Splash pictured below tried to mount my one hen. He has to be a roo right?Sparring is not a sign of a male. I posted Nugget and Snowy already.Do you want to post photos of them?
I can't say for sure because like I said, I've never ended up with a cockerel, but at a young age I don't think they care about eacho others genders yet.Ohh cool… do pullets spar with roos when young? Thank you. I appreciate the truthMultiple roosters engage in "crowing contests", much worse than if you only had one. Those cute little "squeaks" will soon become loud and obnoxious enough for your whole neighborhood to hear. And even if you Could keep a rooster, 4 pullets is not nearly enough for even one randy young cockerel. I understand the truth is not what you hoped to hear, but chickens are a species that require "harems" to exist peacefully; the ratio is approximately 1 rooster for every 12 hens.
