Can roosters raised together live peacefully with just a few hens?

He is a sweeeet heart. I’m trying to keep him somehow… not sure how yet but I love him.

This one is Jacob… Not sure about hen or roo for this one. Hoping hen.

They will crow, they will fight and worse yet, they will harass your pullets to no end. Your girls will not be able to eat, drink or dust bathe without those males trying to mate them, sometimes knocking one another off in order to do so.

Since you are not allowed to have roosters where you live, it would be best to rehome them all. The best way to show your love for them would be to send them someplace they can crow to their hearts’ content and have their own flock of hens to take care of without competition from other roosters.

I'm not very good at telling the gender of silkies, but my guess is cockerel. @MysteryChicken

Yes, cockerels for sure.

The problem isn't the roosters fighting, it's the hens getting overbred. They'll rip out their neck feathers and wear away the feathers on their backs. You can get chicken saddles to help with this but it's still stressful for the girls.

Got it. Thank you! I watch them alot every day. If I see "foul play" I can section them off and find a new home for the roos. I rehomed 2. I'm waiting to see if Jacob is a girl (I still hope). And thinking of getting more hens for Tails and hoping he is not loud... time will tell. I won't let me hens get abused
My roos are actually very sweet (to use humans at least), we held them every day since birth.
