Can salmon favs be sexed right off the bat?

Hi! I'm sorry if the answer to this is posted elsewhere but I can't find it yet so I thought I'd just go ahead and ask anyway. Can you tell gender of salmon faverolles chicks right from the start? I had four, 2 females and 2 roos and sadly I lost one early this morning bless it's fuzzy little heart. Now I'm wondering which it was. Two of the chicks had a bit of dark on their heads and two didn't. Is this just chance coloring or is it the roos with the dark bit on top? Does anyone know or know where an answer might be posted on here? Thanks!

Hm, I've never heard that you can tell until they start to feather out (~1-2 weeks). But it might be interesting to watch those three and take photos as they mature.

That's good idea. It seemed like too much of a coincidence that there were 2 of each and 2 of each just happened to match each other. But I guess it's possible that the dark spots are random. I think I'll start a new thread and post pics of them as they go. Maybe others with favs will join in and we can get a good compilation of before, during, and after pics going!
