I know this sounds weird, but I would love to know what is going on. I hatched some chicks a while ago and one came out with what seems to be respiratory issues. She has been sick with sneezing, raspy breathing etc from day one and seems to have always had trouble breathing - but got much better once I changed the bedding to dust free. Now she is 5 weeks old and getting bigger (though smaller than everyone else) but the odd breathing remains, there is no more sneezing or raspy breathing. The open mouth breathing continues under strain and you can literally see something in her neck expanding as the air travels down it - has anyone seen anything like this before? She also seems to only breathe with the top part of her respiratory tract. My guess is that there is something majorly wrong here, but she is happy and pain free so I want her to live a good life while she can (I don’t think it will be a long one).
Does anyone have any tips as to how to help her with her breathing? I already tried antibiotics and she was completely unresponsive and my other chicks are all fine.
