i always feel like all my questions are totally stupid but i just dont know these things LOL. so i bought 2 bantam silkies and we are just starting on a new coop, one that is hoopefull going to house everyone. but after doing some checking on just how small these guys will be in worried they will not be ok in with the regular size chickens. we have 2 BA,1 BR,2 golden commets,a mystery chicken,5 EEs and 4 others,2 of which might be black gaints.our roo that we have is a cochin and im planning on keeping either a RIR,or a mixed breed that came from the ffa.so what do you all think, should i be starting another coop for just the silkies,of course if i have to build a entirely different coop for just 2 birds i should get a few more of them LOL

I got Silkies and a couple other bantams in my very first order of chicks from McMurray and raised them all up in the same brooder and then coop/run. They did fine together, the bantams never seemed picked on or scared.

I did eventually build a bantam coop though, just because I wanted more of each and wanted to have them in their own spaces.

It's completely circumstantial.... Depends on the aggresiveness of the larger birds. That being said, many people have Silkies intermingled with Large Fowl and they do fine. Just keep an eye on them to make sure they aren't being picked on.

I have 30 chicks in one coop from from 1 month old to almost 2 months. Most are large breeds but I have a few silkies in with them. I noticed the Silkies have started not going outside with the large breeds but staying in the coop all the time. It looks like I'm going to have to put them in a separate bantam coop. The bright side is I will have room for more

If you want more bantams build another coop because the others are going to pick on the silkies
