Can smell bad egg but others are pipping

Hi all. This isn’t the first time I’ve incubated eggs but it’s the first time I have run into this. I have an incubator on day 20, that has eggs pipping but I can smell a bad egg and I am not 100% sure which one it is because it’s not obvious which one right now. I must have missed it during the last candling. I’m worried about shrink wrapping the ones that are pipping. Any ideas?

It's hard to figure out, I don't know about it making others shrink wrap, but mine burst and killed the chick next to it from the exploding egg shell.

See if you can figure it out.

Take your best guess of which egg before you open, so you don't have to leave the incubator open long. The danger of the bad egg disrupting the hatch is far greater than a chance of shrink wrapping from a quick opening of the incubator. Many people including myself take out chicks that are dry ect. While other chicks are hatching. These quick ins and outs do not cause shrink wrapping. Add some humidity to the room if you're really concerned.

Thanks for the response. I started to think the smell wasn’t so « rotten egglike » and more of a weird sweet smell, so I did a bit of a search and found another thread that discusses the smell being characteristic of some incubators when they’re new. I am using this bator for the first time because I had to replace one of my other ones. The smell seems to be dissipating now, so I think it was related to the incubator.

Is that what it ended up being? No bad eggs? My incubator is new and has a bit of a weird odor on day 21. I would say it’s more musty though. Mine is probably a bad egg that I refuse to give up on.
