I have a chicken that is about three months old. I got her (or so think its a her) from a co-op however I have come to find that the person who gave me apparenty didnt know which chicks were which and I got who knows what. One I got turned out to be a golden laced bantam chicken which i was told they had none left, however that one was easy to identify. I am new to this chicken stuff and would like to know what kind of egg to expect because I have a limited number of chickens I can have due to new town laws and I want a variety of eggs.

I have asked a few people and no one seems to be able to come up with what breed this chicken happens to be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

All the ones that were being sold at the co-op were suppose to be pure breed ones just not sure which breeds; no cross breeds but this seems to be stumping all the chicken people I know so I am not sure what to think about it at this point.

Well it looks like a mixed breed to me, I just dont know what else to say, maybe someone else will have a different opinion.

Do you have any ideas on what the mixes might be? Like I said I am very new to this and this is really thowing me off any chance its an ameraucanas?

to me looks like an Easter egger X something I'm not sure what it is crossed with. No chance it is an ameraucana, you can go to this website and learn about the breed, standard, and pics of the 8 accepted colors www.ameraucana.org . It might be an easter egger, but I am leaning more towards EE crossed with something else. Which EEs are already mixes (usually ameraucana or araucana X something else, the wesite also has their defination of what an EE is). Hope that want to confusing.

Anythings possible but they didn't have ee so I think its unlikely but one of my friends thought so too. What about a black sex link? It kinda looks like it but I have never seen another grown one or brown leghorn those where the two others that were being sold when I bought them.

Agree with CCCCCCCCHICKENS that that is probably an EE, but it was probably sold as an Ameraucana/Araucana if the co-op had those listed since that is what most hatcheries sell EEs as. Have never seen a black sex link with that much red color, and it's not a brown leghorn.

I doubt it's an Easter Egger. It's missing any of the key features--green legs, pea comb, muffs. Pea combs are dominant as are muffs, so even if it's a one-off from the hatchery it should have at least some EE features.

Do you know which hatchery it came from?
