please be careful if you are selling something
make sure that your're not alone if someone has to come to your home
Never be alone
please

well, that's pretty darn cryptic... We buy and sell on Craigslist constantly. My husband loves it. Yes, there are some kooks out there, but follow your gut and you'll be fine.

Isn't it better to be safe then sorry

It is ashame that you must be concerned with strangers coming to your house, but that is the times. If it is a mother coming to pick up kids items, Im not too concerned. But, if it's a guy, I always wait til my hubby is home. ..much better to be safe than wind up on HLN.

Update on my canning jar purchase tonight!

I got to the lady's house and it turned out it was her ancient mother's home. The little old lady was thrilled "that such a young lady like you is taking up canning."

I was thrilled to be called "such a young lady" (I'm nearly 35).

The woman's daughter threw in an extra box of jars. I haven't counted them yet but I have at least 60 jars + assorted lids & bands for $15.

I agree with you both. I use craigslist, and I use the local ads as well. we sold our aquarium and dishwasher ad they came to our house to pick them up. But when we sold our snake we werent comfortable with that anymore, and we agreed that from now on we go to meet people somewhere when we are selling something.

I try to always meet people. Recently, "Lois" responded to my ad for an incubator my DD bought, tried & gave up on. We corresponded back & forth to set up a meeting at a gas station, 3 miles from my house. "Lois" explained that she was driving in from a nearby farm town & suggested that I just give my address so that I didn't have "to wait for us." I replied it was no trouble, as DD & would be running errands.

"Lois" turned out to be two big, burly dudes.

They explained that they were Lois' son & husband. (Okay???!!!)
They did buy the incubator.
