Well, it’s the biggest squash plant I’ve ever seen in my garden. Not really, mine were that large before the wind storm broke them off. First time in my life I've had a storm do it.

They just might have their own little farm back there! LOL.I have to put my pumpkins in the window because the squirrels are on them before the front door has closed lol, they also stole the corn from the corn stalks my son grew from popcorn for a kindergarten project, climbed the fence and sat on my neighbors swing set, staring me down as they munched away on them. I wonder if there’s a corn and pumpkin patch somewhere out in the woods behind my house, courtesy of the squirrels.
That’s a great idea, I have bitter apple, so I will spray the veggies as they grow. I planted a ton of peppers because the squirrels didn’t eat them last year, so I figured they were safe, I put my tomatoes in topsy turvy style hanging bags and I hung them from the pergola on my deck, because they kept tasting them last year lol. Bitter apple is also great for keeping puppies from eating flip flops haha, I bought a huge bottle 2 years ago, I’m glad I didn’t throw it out after they outgrew the chewing stage. They just might have their own little farm back there! LOL.
My neighbor told me about a product called "Bitter Apple" spray. Found it on Amazon and at the pet store. I used it on my little pumpkins and squash last year to keep the squirrels from eating them as they come up. It worked!!! Until then the little buggers ate almost all of the tiny squash as they bud. It's supposed to be for pets to keep them from licking and chewing but it's harmless on veggies. Of course I wash thoroughly before eating anyway. It's worth a try.
I just stumbled upon this thread, haha. There’s a monster in my yard. And it’s not my Orpington.
No. This creature is vicious and unfamiliar. It is scaling the wire walls of our garden with ruthless purpose. I don’t know what it wants, or why it’s here, but maybe you people can help me find out what it is. View attachment 2756383
It seems to be in the squash or melon family. I planted pickling cucumbers in this bed. They were crushed and brutally killed by the demanding monster that took over the bed. One still survives, and it is cowering in the closest corner of the bed us in the photo.
I know this hulking beast is too large for the bed. But this is not my fault! I only planted small cucumbers. Not THIS. It’s possible I got my seeds mixed up, but I haven’t planted watermelon or pumpkin in years, and I don’t even believe this is a cucumber. It’s a plant out of a Jurassic park scene.
Help me before it devours everything I love!
No, it’s definitely squash. A few vivid orange flowers have bloomed.I just stumbled upon this thread, haha.
But I had to reply, is there any chance it could be Hollyhocks? I just had a ton of them pop over my whole yard this year, and they looked the same way while coming up. They just bloomed a couple weeks ago.
I'm not at all saying that's what they are, but they just look very similar. It's strange. I'll go take a pic of mine.
Yum!!!No, it’s definitely squash. A few vivid orange flowers have bloomed.
