I hear ya but he can pass on those lovely chocolate egg genes to all the hens of whatever breed and interesting eggs are sure to come.

I got a Black Copper Marans "female" for those beautiful eggs last Spring. She turned out to be rooster. A really gorgeous rooster who is now ready to populate my coop.

I've got another BCM female chick coming in a couple months so I can finally get those eggs. But I'm also looking forward to M. Maurice's genetic alchemy. He wasn't what we wanted but now we wouldn't have it any other way.

Mixed breed. Feathered legs, single comb, and yellow legs don't line up with any pure breed (that I know of).

100% cockerel, too.

I've had silver laced wyandottes before and I don't think that's what it is, however it may be part way wyandotte. It looks like a mixed breed to me.
