Can Someone Please Help Me with My Addiction??!!

I adore Buckeyes. They are my favorite. You will enjoy them so much. They have amazing personalities, and are so smart. Great layers and great mamas too! Enjoy! (But beware... you will soon want more Buckeyes...)

I started out with 6 chickens. Now I have around 200. I just sold 50. Who says chickens are addicting???

Now THAT scares me!!! I started with a variety of breeds that I was interested in so I could see which I like the best, Buckeyes were on my list, but were unavailable by the time I was getting chicks last year. So far my Dominiques are my favorite, and I was leaning towards concentrating on them, maybe getting some from a breeder instead of hatchery, but decided I HAD to try the Buckeyes first. But if I want more Doms or Buckeyes (if I like those too), I think my hubby will want me to get rid of some of the others!

Not sure I am to the point yet that I could sell some of them to others, although I am starting to look into it. I mean, theoretically it makes sense, but...I know it's silly but I think about how it will stress them out and blah blah blah. Sigh. I guess I'll just have to start working on hubby to expand the coop eventually

Trying to be all common sense , practical, "farmer"y about it, but still just a city girl living in the country who loves her critters!

CMOM, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I started with 7 barred rock and white rocks. 3 hens of each and 1 barred rock rooster. A couple of days ago I did a coop count, 6 coops and one coopless run. And materials on hand to build a few more. 8 Guinea hens, 13 Ducks, 4 Turkeys, and 198 chickens. That doesn't include the two totes and brooder in the greenhouse that have 2, 4 and 6 week old batches chicks in them. 12 more in lockdown that are due to peck out tomarrow. That is another 29+
chickens. 41 turkey eggs and 12 easter egger eggs in the incubators. So for whom ever it was that said they hoped that chicken math was not addictive over the internet. Be aware that it is just plane addictive, no matter how you are exposed to it. Thank the Lord for all miracles, both large and small.
