I just moved to Grantville UT. I had to leave my 8 chickens behind with my mother in law because I simply cannot find out the rule for how many chicken I can keep in my backyard and any other ordinance. My mother in law is now attached to the chickens so I will have to acquire more this next spring but I would like to know how many I can have and other rules. Anything helps, thanks.

Glad you joined us!

I can't answer your questions, but I'm sure someone can! Good luck!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

The best thing you can do is contact your local city hall. They should be able to tell you all you need to know about the laws in that area.

Next you can try this section of our forums, Local Chicken Laws and How To Change Them and see if your area is listed or start a new thread....https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/37/local-chicken-laws-ordinances-and-how-to-change-them

You can also chat with your new chicken neighbors to see if they know anything about the laws in this area...https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/24/utah

Good luck with the move and I hope you can get all this straightened out soon!

I was hoping someone might know so I wouldn't have to make the trip, but I'll have to do that, thanks for the tips, guys!

Quick question - do you mean Grantsville (with an s) - I tried to do a little digging for you and only found it with an S, no Grantville in Utah.

ETA - not trying to nitpick, but don't want to find you information that doesn't help/apply because I am looking at one place and you live in another.
