Can Someone Tell Me If This Is Normal?

I have a pet Khaki Campbell drake named Smokey. He is 2 and a half years old, and for his entire life, he has been very different than the other ducks. Yeah, he is healthy and all, but he will sleep in my lap, follow me while I am swimming, and just lay his head on my hand. Sometimes he won't leave unless I run in the house and close the door. He was raised and lives outdoors with a flock of 4 other ducks, but he has a special connection to me. He has actually gotten quite well known around poultry shows and on his YouTube channel for being the most loving duck many have ever seen. Is this normal? Also, when I got to pick him up, unlike the other ducks that just run, he will stand there and let me pick him up. He is also very protective of me and will chase the cat away from me. Do your ducks run from you? Just wondering if he is the only one like this.
